BP-5 is a compact emergency ration distinguished by its long shelf life, its high nutritional value, and its comparatively small volume. BP-5 has been applied for years by relief organizations to cope with famine and other disasters. The military and expeditions are other areas in which BP-5 is widely used as an emergency food.
BP-5 is instantly ready for consumption and does not have to be cooked. It can be eaten directly from its packaging or be mixed with water or milk into a paste (for example as baby food).
Its ingredients are toasted wheat flour, soy, malt extract, sugar, minerals, amino acids, and vitamins. BP-5 is completely vegetarian and does not contain any genetically modified substances. It tastes slightly sweetish.
